the head

by the many words (all invoking his mother and everyone else's....) that I heard Esteban say while uncomfortably working in this little space I'd say this project was his least favorite. but the results were amazing. new lights, new and bigger mirror, more space and everything CLEAN and new!!!

generator

how to charge the batteries.... this is a BIG questions and a very important one part of a complex topic: the energy consumption on board and how to recharge your battery banks. we want to make our boat comfortable and have enough energy source to run our water maker, all electronics, lights, etc but at the same time we need to be mindful of the space, the weight, the long turn expenses and the money available... so we ended up with a combination of a wind generator, solar panel, 100 amp alternator and a mase marine generator. having this on board will make our lifes extremely comfortable. we are very happy with our purchase and also very thankful to our friends at Mase who were extremely friendly and helpful!!

farewell to the parents....

Esteban's parents came from Argentina and mine from Colombia to say good buy to us because we had originally planed to leave around the last week of march.... but in the real world, and specially in the "boat world" or at least in ours, the projects always take a little longer than planned... so we could not leave Miami as planned and ended up saying goodbye to our parents in the airport, instead of the other way around.... but no worries, there is really not a set date to leave and really no big deal as to when we actually leave... so we postponed our departure date until "the boat is finished" and we enjoyed our families in Miami all together for the first time.

leaving land... and moving on board

ready or not, boat... here we come. Time was getting closer and we had to return the house and start moving on board. we sold all the furniture, our cars, we quit our jobs and returned the house to move to the boat. there was one minor little detail..... THE BOAT WAS NOT READY YET !!!!!!! so we moved our stuff (the kitchen, the clothes and everything we own and think will be able to fit on the boat) to the shed.... if anybody thinks moving to a new house is rough.. try moving to a shed and to a boat full of cables, wires and tools !!!
